“As we drive along this road called life, occasionally a gal will find herself a little lost. And when that happens, I guess she has to let go of the coulda, shoulda, woulda, buckle up and just keep going.”-Carrie Bradshaw

Confessions of a Control Freak: Moving

Stage 1 Move everything: Mission complete :o)Boxes are unpacked, dishes put away, motorcycle and furniture put in storage and closets are stuffed full!

As mentioned in my previous blog, we were faced with very unfortunate circumstances almost immediately following the weekend move, however through faith, love, and the desire to actually walk through the house, we persevered.

Fortunately, I was able to purchase much needed under the bed storage containers and additional over the door hooks for relatively inexpensive. I also purchased some Space Saver bags, but was quite disappointed compared to the original ones I purchased a few years ago. The new ones are made of a much flimsier plastic and did not hold the air out for more than 1 week (which completely defeats the purpose-oh well).  On a good note, the other items purchased including the over the door hat holder (which used to be my purse hanger-oh the joy of compromise) and hanging closet shelves worked out quite nicely! I would post links to these items; however I have found that Target does not advertise their own brand online (weird right?). But do note, the Target brands were about 25% cheaper than the designer versions and work just as well.

Another quick and inexpensive, but made the world of a difference purchase was new cabinet hardware for the kitchen and bathrooms. The prior were white plastic (on white cabinets with white walls-how very creative of you Mr. or Mrs. Original Waggoner Park Condominium Designer), but were upgraded to a more substantial-and prettier-brushed nickel.

As promised, the Ohio State bathroom remained so I hung up a few of his pictures to enhance the theme. I guess we all have to give up a little control sometimes lol

During my 3 day hiatus from work, I managed to refinish my Nanny's vanity (finally!-see  original post from August).I'm really happy with the outcome and have received numerous compliments already. Before and after pictures to come soon! On Friday night, Livi and I spent a few hours sitting there playing dress up with my Gram's jewelry and gloves which brought back familiar memories and a few happy tears. Although, it was the great start of teaching a 3 year old princess about the importance of knowing fine gemstones.

In the making following the holiday season is painting the downstairs and upstairs hallway.
We (by we I mean Becky, Glenda, and I) are already hard at work pulling paint swatches and testing them on the walls…seriously can’t wait to see the transformation!

Next on the agenda: Painting the bedroom with Aubrey scheduled for Thursday 12/2
I'm really looking forward to see the results of the first major change!
