“As we drive along this road called life, occasionally a gal will find herself a little lost. And when that happens, I guess she has to let go of the coulda, shoulda, woulda, buckle up and just keep going.”-Carrie Bradshaw

Big City Gourmet, Small Town Atmosphere

Well, one of my lifestyle change fears was soothed this weekend. Living in Columbus for the past 4 years has given me every cuisine imaginable at my disposal from Grecian, Italian, Korean, and Indian just to name a few. One thing about my hometown is their restaurant "diversity" consists of one (but extremely good) Chinese restaurant and their definition of "Italian" is Olive Garden-hardly the genuine Sicilian family owned place I'm used to eating at here.

Regardless, I am still challenging myself to focus on the people I am spending time with not necessarily the things I'm purchasing; however I was pleasantly surprised to find gourmet food this past weekend that far exceeded my expectations.

The Headkeeper is a little place located in Greensburg, PA. From the outside, it looks like your average small town bar and restaurant filled with domestic draft beer and every fried food conceivable. When you walk in though, you immediately get the feeling that this place is something different. It feels like your homey, casual joint but the first thing your eyes see is the entire wall of beer coolers housing 100's of beer selections from international to your local brewery. You can chose your own and then make your way to your charming candle lit table.

The menu will amaze you-tend cut sirloin, flash fried calamari with mango coleslaw, prosciutto wrapped asparagus are just a few selections that melted in my mouth. All of the food is prepared in the open face grill directly behind the bar so you can watch the culinary creations come to life.

I highly recommend this secret little place on the corner that looks ordinary, but turned out to be anything but.
