The "theme" of my wedding has developed into "Old Meets New" which very much describes me. I'm rich in tradition and cherishing the past; however I am very appreciative of the present and what shall come (including modern amenities such as hairdryers, hot water tanks, and eyeliner). However, I feel the word vintage is often overused and sometimes I prefer to just simply say, "It's old". Unfortunately, the word vintage has become the new trend and I think that causes people to miss the entire meaning. The term is not what makes an item special, but it's the story behind it rather how it was crafted, how it was acquired, or simply how it has been handed down through the generations. Sometimes the most interesting is simply not knowing the story behind it and creating one in your imagination.

On Friday, I received a gift from my fiance's grandmother. Handkerchiefs were carried because early farmers thought a bride's wedding day tears were lucky and brought rains for their crops. Later, a crying bride meant that she'd never shed another tear about her marriage. Today, we carry a handkerchief to dab away the tears of happiness and joy (

It is a traditional style handkerchief fashioned into a modern style wedding dress. Old meets new at it's finest.
It was such a thoughtful gift. Small details are often overlooked, but make the most special of moments.
On another note of family tradition, my best friend of 21 years (and the other half of my brain cell) started a blog that will for sure capture many Family Traditions. Check it out --->
Everything's Copacetic
ps. I purchased my dress ;o)
