I really cannot handle this bitter weather! ARG! It was one of those nights where I couldn't get warm no matter how many layers I put on. Back in the day, I used to be able to call out "Mom, I'm cold! Can you please make me something hot!" And out she would come with some hot tea and (beanless) soup or chili. Well, those days are gone seeing as she can't teleport food 2 hours away-darn!.
So it took me many years, but I finally gained the ability to eat beans (if you ever saw the movie Dennis the Menace, you'd understand). So in the crock pot the ingredients went and 3 hours later, I was feeling the comforts of home.
Mom and Grammy's Recipe:
1 LB of Ground Beef, browned and drained
1, 15 oz can of Chili Beans
1, Can of Tomato Sauce
1, medium Yellow or White Onion chopped
1/2 Green, Yellow, or Red pepper chopped (You can also use the frozen Kroger 3 Pepper and Onion mix)
1, Clove of Garlic chopped
1/4 Tsp of White Sugar
Brown meat on medium-high until no longer pink and drain. Add all ingredients together into crock pot and stir. Turn on for 2-3 hours until simmering.
*Optional: Serve with Shredded Cheddar Cheese, Sour Cream, and Saltine Crackers. I like to break my crackers up and mix it all together, but it's up to you.
Enjoy :o)
