“As we drive along this road called life, occasionally a gal will find herself a little lost. And when that happens, I guess she has to let go of the coulda, shoulda, woulda, buckle up and just keep going.”-Carrie Bradshaw

Feeling Fidgety = Gotta Do Something Crafty
Another break time at work blog...
Last night I was quite restless and in serious need of some creative outlet time so I grabbed a hot cup of tea, my art supplies, and sat on my bed with my favorite Tuesday night TV line up.
I love to scrapbook and have an abundance of supplies; however I found that scrapbooking tends to be more stressful because I nit-pick and change each page 100 times over before I'm satisfied. In an attempt to control my OCD, I started making homemade cards about a year ago. I found that when I'm high-strung, it's best to stick with simple yet constructive projects.
I also found that beyond adding more personalization than the standard Hallmark, it has also significantly helped my budget over an extended period of time. On average, a "nice" card costs anywhere from $1.00-$3.99 and if you send as many as I do a year (including Christmas about 50) the savings can really add up-between $50-$199.50!
The cardstock backers were given to me two years ago from my family for various holidays and the backgrounds are print outs from Google Images and an inkjet printer. I also found that pages from magazine advertisements make great backgrounds if cut and covered correctly. The vinyl text is from discarded projects at work which were to be tossed in the garbage-hooray for recycling! and the rhinestones and beads were purchased on clearance at Joann's for $.50/bag. The buttons and bows were acquired by raided Mom's sewing tin (thanks, Mom!). I have been known to also add some rubber stamp designs, ribbon, pins, and anything else I find lying around. I used acid free glue sticks or glue dots to adhere everything together.
Overall, mission accomplished. I created some beautiful cards to give to Mom and regained a piece of mind. Total spent last night = $0
PS. GO REDS! (1st playoff game tonight @ 5)
