On Saturday, Krissy and I ventured to the Ohio Renaissance Faire in Wilmington, OH. Our usual port is the Pittsburgh Renaissance Faire; however with age seems to come and increasing amount of scheduling conflicts so although we miss our Renny friends @ Pitt., we were excited to be able to go to a faire at least once this year.
Aubs and Angie joined us for a day full of giant turkey legs, performers, jousting, a few pints of ale and plenty of craftsman to help blow our budget. I finally settled on a new ceramic mug (essential for future trips to the pub), a hand dipped wax rose, a hand blown glass dragon for my sister, and a "Key to Only My Heart" charm for Matt (which he wears proudly:)
Even if dressing as lords, ladies, pirates, and wenches aren't your thing, I would definetly advise anyone to go to a faire simply to enjoy the atmosphere. It is like stepping into another world. Although I will warn you that if you go to Ohio's put on your comfy walking shoes! Ohio's faire is HUGE and about 4 times the size of Pittsburgh's. We have been to Ohio's once before, but I must admit that I forgot the magnitude of this faire.
We are looking forward to rejoining our friends in Pittsburgh next year, but feel very fortunate that we were still able to participate in one of our favorite weekends of the year!
